Drs. Palmer and Bakhdi need to take a weekend to read every article on Mike Stone's Substack, ViroLIEgy. He has actually read the papers, and done the deep dive into the history of "germ theory," that show these two doctors to be wrong on almost every count in this article.

Sorry but this historical illiteracy rankles me to no end. These doctors can't even get the most basic of scientific and medical history correct so how am I supposed to take them seriously?

They open with:

"The idea that microbes cause transmissible diseases gained acceptance in the late 19th century."

...

"These discoveries paved the way for the prevention of such diseases by hygiene and surveillance."

...

"What brought about this rapid triumph of germ theory? It seems fair to say that both the scientists involved and their audience made it happen."

No, sorry fellas this is flat wrong.

That idea did not "gain acceptance" it was widely disputed and how it came to be the "accepted wisdom" was through mass propaganda campaigns and often ruthless and shady promotions of this quackery.

No, these "discoveries" did not "pave the way" for improvements in hygiene or sanitation or etc. What an arrogant insult to those who actually did do the hard work of gaining social reforms that led to those positive changes. It is total historical ignorance to lay these social reforms at the feet of scientists and the medical industry.

And no it wasn't scientists and their audience (what audience are you speaking about?) it was the ruling class that embraced, promoted and furthered the fraud that is germ theory and they did so through well-funded institutions and no small amount of skullduggery.
